What to expect at a Hatha Yoga Class:
Hatha Yoga sessions begin by placing legs up against the wall to assist allowing the lymphatic fluid to flow and give the legs a lovely rest. Focus at this point is relaxing the body and feeling and connecting to the breath.
The class then shifts into slow forward bends, proceeding into loosening up the body to move into more structured postures, Asanas. At his point many Asanas are practiced with focus on alignment and breath.
Flow shifts into standing postures, opening up the body, twists and balancing postures, with continued focus on alignment and breath.
As the class moves into the final stages of the session, the class moves into floor postures and finally into yoga nidra, guided relaxation.
To seal off the practice, the class chants:
Om Om Om Shanti Shanti Shanti
